Eventbrite - Scoping Workshop – Future Marine and Maritime R&D

Scope a New Collaborative R&D Competition

The Technology Strategy Board (TSB), in collaboration with the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (dstl), is further developing plans to continue support for R&D directly focussed on the marine and maritime industry. They aim to run a major collaborative R&D competition in early 2015, and the intent of this event is to assist in the definition of the scope for this competition.

About the Scoping Workshop

This workshop, to be held at BIS, 1 Victoria Street, London, on 16th June, is an essential event to ensure that the interventions to support R&D meet real requirements.   We are therefore looking for input from manufacturers, suppliers and researchers in all sectors including leisure, commercial, marine science, naval and offshore renewables support.

At this event, you will hear about the results of previous competitions, and indicative future plans and priorities from the funders' point of view, but the main purpose is for the funders to hear your views and feedback.

This workshop will be your opportunity to provide feedback on previous R&D competitions, share your experiences, and provide ideas on the kinds of future interventions that will deliver most value across the industry.

Previous Competitions

The TSB and dstl have already run two highly successful Collaborative R&D Competitions:

  1. £7m Vessel Efficiency: Piloting UK marine and maritime innovation, and
  2. £5m Vessel Efficiency II: Better systems at sea

These calls were scoped in alignment with the UK Marine Industries Roadmap, broadly covering the topics of Marine ICT and Green Shipping.

The funders are now seeking to review the outcomes of these calls and, supported by this industry workshop, develop provisional priority topics for future support.

NOTE: Places are limited at this workshop.
