Who We Are
What is the UKIF?
The Forum exists to give business people who run, or who wish to build, businesses that use leading edge technology access to the innovative technology produced by British universities and research institutions.
The wider UKIF community, built around these two central groups of Knowledge/Tech Transfer Offices and entrepreneurial executives, includes: those who may provide finance for the spinouts, most notably angel investors and seed funds; those will particular skills they can bring to the community, such as innovation and commercialisation specialists; students; and a limited number of accredited suppliers covering relevant fields such as patent law and technology licensing.
Who created the UKIF?
The Forum has been established with the backing of the Science and Technology Facilities Council (http://www.stfc.ac.uk/), a non-departmental body of the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills of the UK Government, with strong support from leading universities, research institutions, government laboratories and government bodies that fund innovation and business in the UK.
