KTN's online platform helps you to make the connections you need

The Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN) has refreshed its online platform to intelligently connect you to relevant events, funding, thought pieces and specialist staff to help your business innovate and grow.

You can discover content using your area of interest, from sustainability to transport; from space to health – all major UK economic sectors are covered. Once you have selected your interests, using our intelligent tagging system, we will then display rich and relevant content related to your area, often from surprising sources.

An example might be new satellite technology from the space sector that is applicable in the agri-food sector. KTN-UK.co.uk will help you form these unusual and valuable connections.

All content on the platform has been carefully curated by our team of innovation specialists – not by an automated algorithm – so you can be confident that KTN is connecting you to the most relevant cutting-edge information.

The move also marks a closer alignment with our main funder, Innovate UK , with the website branding making a clear visual link. Knowledge Transfer Network is Innovate UK's innovation network partner, and also works with other funders to provide innovation networking services and fulfil our mission to drive UK growth.

We link new ideas and opportunities with expertise, markets and finance through our network of businesses, universities, funders and investors. From agri-food to autonomous systems and from energy to design, KTN combines expertise in all sectors with the ability to cross boundaries. Connecting with KTN can lead to potential partners, horizon-expanding events and innovation insights relevant to your needs.

Search the Pipeline - a new _connect tool to find cutting edge technologies being developed at UK universities

A new, free resource has been added to the Technology Strategy Board’s _connect platform, to make it easier for businesses to access technologies developed by some of the UK’s leading universities.

Find new technologies

Pipeline is a new official group which offers a user-friendly, searchable directory of new technologies from institutions willing to be contacted for commercial exploitation by companies. These range from fundamental science to consumer products that are ready for manufacture. At launch, over 150 innovative technologies or technology applications have been posted by 15 different institutions in England, Scotland and Wales, with more due to be added over the coming months. A substantial number are being provided under Easy Access terms, meaning that the licence can be free of charge.

Submit your technology

Not only can you search the database, but you can can also add your own technologies to the database. Pipeline is open to all UK higher education institutions and publicly funded research establishments (so as well as universities other bodies such as NPL and STFC for example), free of charge!  To submit your technology, sign up to the Pipeline group, or email pipeline@inngot.com, or contact them at: Technium, Kings Road, Swansea, SA1 8PH/tel 0333 800 8090

How it works

The Pipeline data has been provided by Inngot, specialists in online IP profiling and valuation, who already administer the IP Central Community Network on _connect. Pipeline enables researchers to be found by category as well as keyword, using criteria such as market applications, development stage, types of know-how involved and benefits (both individually and in combination). Results are returned instantly, and detailed reports can be viewed and bookmarked or saved as PDFs. Users can make contact with the originating university directly from Pipeline

Pipeline is free for universities to use and for businesses to search. Users already registered on the _connect platform should simply join the official Pipeline group to access the technology search engine.

This initiative supports the Technology Strategy Board’s mission to bring together business, research and the public sector to accelerate economic growth.
