KTN's online platform helps you to make the connections you need

The Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN) has refreshed its online platform to intelligently connect you to relevant events, funding, thought pieces and specialist staff to help your business innovate and grow.

You can discover content using your area of interest, from sustainability to transport; from space to health – all major UK economic sectors are covered. Once you have selected your interests, using our intelligent tagging system, we will then display rich and relevant content related to your area, often from surprising sources.

An example might be new satellite technology from the space sector that is applicable in the agri-food sector. KTN-UK.co.uk will help you form these unusual and valuable connections.

All content on the platform has been carefully curated by our team of innovation specialists – not by an automated algorithm – so you can be confident that KTN is connecting you to the most relevant cutting-edge information.

The move also marks a closer alignment with our main funder, Innovate UK , with the website branding making a clear visual link. Knowledge Transfer Network is Innovate UK's innovation network partner, and also works with other funders to provide innovation networking services and fulfil our mission to drive UK growth.

We link new ideas and opportunities with expertise, markets and finance through our network of businesses, universities, funders and investors. From agri-food to autonomous systems and from energy to design, KTN combines expertise in all sectors with the ability to cross boundaries. Connecting with KTN can lead to potential partners, horizon-expanding events and innovation insights relevant to your needs.

International Festival for Business 2016 Liverpool - your global marketplace

Further to our announcement back in February of KTN’s involvement in the International Festival for Business 2016, in Liverpool on 13 June to 1 July, as well as news of an Association of Industrial Laser Users workshop on opportunities for laser material processing for the maritime community, KTN’s Ben Peace has provided an update with some last minute details of the events readers may be interested in attending on the KTN Blog.

For businesses seeking “partners that can facilitate innovation and its commercial realisation” he suggests might be worth attending, as well as for the chance “to learn about the latest funding opportunities and how the Innovate UK family can help you; or simply to be inspired. All of this and more will be on offer in and around Liverpool’s Exhibition Centre over the three weeks of the festival.”

As an institutional partner, KTN has secured a 15% discount for its members to attend, with code: KTN15. Please contact Grant Naughton at gnaughton@gtreview.com for further details.

Festival themes

The three weeks of the festival are themed as follows:

  • Manufacturing (13–17 June)
  • Energy & environment (20–24 June)
  • Creative & digital (27 June – 1 July)

Following the conference will be the UK Export Excellence Awards 2016, that will celebrate successful UK exporters over the past year. The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on the evening of June 15.

Highlighted events

The festival will feature approximately 70 events, opportunities to meet with advisers and potential business partners, and a programme of speakers and panel sessions tackling the hot topics impacting business.

Of interest for the maritime community is INVESTINBLUE – IFB2016, that, in partnership with the UKTI and the Department for Business Skills and Innovation, National Maritime (NMDG) and Jobs In Maritime, will showcase UK and maritime economy growth. The event will feature demonstrations of innovation in design and advanced engineering, manufacturing in civil and military ships, leisure craft, superyachts, marine equipment and offshore renewable devices, and why maritime infrastructure development projects are essential to maintaining and instigating growth in the national economy.
KTN will have a strong presence across the sectors above, and will be involved in the follwoing free of charge events (requiring registration for the festival’s business club to attend):
