KTN's online platform helps you to make the connections you need

The Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN) has refreshed its online platform to intelligently connect you to relevant events, funding, thought pieces and specialist staff to help your business innovate and grow.

You can discover content using your area of interest, from sustainability to transport; from space to health – all major UK economic sectors are covered. Once you have selected your interests, using our intelligent tagging system, we will then display rich and relevant content related to your area, often from surprising sources.

An example might be new satellite technology from the space sector that is applicable in the agri-food sector. KTN-UK.co.uk will help you form these unusual and valuable connections.

All content on the platform has been carefully curated by our team of innovation specialists – not by an automated algorithm – so you can be confident that KTN is connecting you to the most relevant cutting-edge information.

The move also marks a closer alignment with our main funder, Innovate UK , with the website branding making a clear visual link. Knowledge Transfer Network is Innovate UK's innovation network partner, and also works with other funders to provide innovation networking services and fulfil our mission to drive UK growth.

We link new ideas and opportunities with expertise, markets and finance through our network of businesses, universities, funders and investors. From agri-food to autonomous systems and from energy to design, KTN combines expertise in all sectors with the ability to cross boundaries. Connecting with KTN can lead to potential partners, horizon-expanding events and innovation insights relevant to your needs.

£5million Digital Railway competition opens with a hugely popular consortia-building event

"Brilliant event" "Loved the 1-to-1s" "So much in such a short time!"

Thank you to all delegates and presenters for an excellent information and consortia-building day in support of the £5million Enabling Digital Railway competition on Monday.

We had over 150 people networking like crazy, with people still there right up to the 5pm close.  Having started at 9am, we think that shows real stamina!

A special thank you to the representatives from Network Rail (Paul Zanelli), FirstGroup's Rail Division (Nick Hortin and Nick Wright), London Underground (Kuldeep Gharatya and Simon Chung), and TfL (Nicole Badstuber and Francesco Cavallo) who enthusiastically provided a packed hour of 1-to-1 sessions with delegates in the afternoon.

Listen again

Okay, so it's not quite iPlayer, but we have uploaded the presentations as slidecasts to our slideshare pages, so you can listen again whilst watching/downloading the slides.

We have also uploaded all the presentations to the networking group's document library and updated the delegate list with people who were late entries to the event (people who didn't make it are still included).  You will need to log in to see the delegate list.

If you keep an eye on your notifications from the networking group - Accelerating Innovation in Rail - or follow us on @transportktn - you'll be updated as soon as any other materials are available.

Don't forget you can also post your requirements to the networking group, like Coventry University has.

Thematic "sticky" walls

During the event, we provided a networking facility around 6 thematic areas that had been suggested through discussions with the stakeholders.  These were:

  • Safety and Security
  • Customer Experience
  • Reliability and Dependability
  • Cost and Value
  • Energy and Sustainability, and
  • Capacity, Delivery and Effective Operations

We are currently synthesising the networking information from these into mindmaps and will post them on the networking group's document library, with a commensurate article to signpost you.  And of course there'll be a tweet too!

Get in touch

Finally, we would like to reiterate that we are here to assist you with any queries you may have about finding partners for consortia, queries around the scope, or other clarification.  Just email us enquiries@transportktn.org for the quickest response.
