100,000 bioengineers in 100 days!

By Amy Tayler

Amino Labs and The BioBuilder Educational Foundation invite everyone to become a virtual bioengineer, with a target of 100,000 participants in 100 days.
The #100kbio challenge aims to engage the public (particularly schoool children) in the basics of genetic engineering. The simulation takes participants through engineering E. coli to produce a colour or scent.
If you feel it’s a bit too much like your day job, why not challenge your friends and family - it's an accessible tool to get them thinking about the potential of synthetic biology. Participation can be done as an individual or a group, and additional free resources are available to teachers. Partiicpants can print their own certificate at the end, too.
Please follow the challenge on Twitter using #100kbio to help smash the target of 100,000 virtual bioengineers by Christmas.
