the Knowledge Transfer Network

KTN is funded by the UK government to create a knowledge transfer network which is flexible, dynamic and better suited to the innovation ecosystem and challenges of today. KTN acts as a single access point for UK industries to engage with the research knowledge base and other industry researchers and end users in collaborative research supported by funding agencies to enable growth thorough innovation.

KTN has 16 communities in key strategic areas from health and medical to automotive and aerospace, from electronics and sensors to creative industries, from built environment to agritech.  In addition it has 16 cross cutting themes to support multi sector activities such as sustainability, manufacturing, access to finance, design and H2020

With over 60000 members KTN has significant reach to disseminate results, build communities and support innovation development and deployment.  Each year it runs hundreds of workshops and seminars attended by over 15000 delegates



NAFEMS is the International Association for the Engineering Analysis Community and is a non-profit-making organization dedicated to promoting the effective use of engineering simulation technology. There are currently over 1100 member organizations from both industry and academia. NAFEMS have published over 160 guidance and advice documents in the simulation field in addition to a quarterly magazine BENCHmark, with a circulation of over 6000. It has considerable experience in organizing seminars and workshops and accredits several conventional training courses. Each year NAFEMS organizes over 50 events, training courses, workshops, seminars and major international conferences.



Alstom is a global leader in the world of power generation, transmission and rail infrastructure and sets the benchmark for innovative and environmentally conscious technologies.  Alstom Power employs some 3,500 people in the UK and is responsible for the maintenance, refurbishment and operation of many of the country's existing power plants, providing a full mix of power generation technologies, combining traditional and renewable energy sources with clean power solutions.

Alstom has experts from the Methodologies for Tools research division with competencies in providing ICT solutions to improve business capabilities and resource efficiencies from product conception, through design and manufacture, to service and disposal.
