The Sensors and Instrumentation Group is a central point of access for sensing information and assistance. Members benefit from:
Access to funding
We help members to access funding. The Group regularly gives its members early notice of funding opportunities. We also provide support for funding applications and assistance with dissemination of funded projects.
We run an extensive event and activity programme.
1. The Intelligent Sensing Programme (ISP) – generally focussed to encourage application exploration and knowledge transfer across diverse sectors
2. Events targeted at sectors or specific technologies e.g. wireless sensing, autonomous systems and advanced instrumentation
3. Workshops designed to address special issues e.g. data privacy, formation of alliances of micro-SMEs to address supply chain issues, best practice in R&D procurement for research facilities and applying for specific grant programmes
Regular bulletins outlining funding opportunities, collaborations and events.
Representation to government
On behalf of the UK’s growing sensing community, we are active in responding to consultations and helping funding bodies prioritise their spending in support of the sector’s research needs. One of our key roles is to ensure that the needs and views of the community are heard by government.
