£3 Million Innovative Research Call (IRC) 2016 for Explosives and Weapons Detection

The Home Office and its partners in the Innovative Research Call (IRC) 2016 for Explosives and Weapons Detection are to invest up to £3 million in research projects.

Projects can develop original ideas. They can also adapt successful technologies, techniques or processes from other fields. Innovative detection solutions are required to operate in one or more of the following situations:

• buildings and areas

• goods

• people and/or their possessions

• vehicles

 

The project partners are the:

• Office for Security and Counter-Terrorism and Centre for Applied Science and Technology at the Home Office

• Department for Transport

• Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure   

• Defence Science and Technology Laboratory

• Metropolitan Police Service   

• U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Science and Technology Directorate  

 

The competition opens on 12 September 2016 and closes for Stage One applications on 19 October 2016.

There will be a bidders’ conference for potential applicants in London on Tuesday 27 September 2016.
