The Sensors & Instrumentation Knowledge Centre is actively working to broker partnerships and collaborative R&D projects through a range of research instrumentation users and manufacturers in a range of applications. The UK government spends hundreds of million of pounds funding research facilities, with world wide expenditure being more than ten billion pounds per annum. This provides numerous opportunities for engagement with industry. The Research Councils are a significant contributor to university instrumentation purchases. Between EPSRC, BBSRC and NERC, more than £89m in equipment grants.

The 2nd edition of the Research Facility Services Directory has been published. This contains information and contact details for research facilities and universities in the U.K. that offer services and access to advanced instrumentation not usually available to most companies or academics.
