Competition: robotic solutions to aid the elderly

A competition to uncover new robotic related technologies to assist elderly people‚Äôs ability to continue living independently at home, was launched on Friday. 

SILVER (Supporting Independent LiVing for the Elderly through Robotics) is a development project funded by the EU under the ICT cooperation part of the Seventh Framework Programme for research and technological development (FP7).

The goal is to find technologies to assist elderly people through a Pre-Commercial Procurement (PCP) process, in three phases, ending in March 2016. The result will be two to three prototypes to be tested in all partnering countries.
