Automatic Threat Detection of Firearms

The challenge from the Home Office’s Office for Security and Counter Terrorism (OSCT) is to further improve x-ray screening used at the UK border with regards to its capability and capacity to detect illegal firearms, component parts and ammunition.

Proposals are invited for the development of innovative algorithms for the automatic threat detection (ATD) of firearms, their components and ammunition. These algorithms may also be suitable for other counter-terrorism and security applications and may be extended to detect other forms of contraband.

OSCT are to invest up to £2m in this two-phase SBRI competition which will open on Monday 27th June 2016.
