Advances in forecast verification
A Royal Meteorological Society Meeting
As the nature of forecasts evolves, towards high-resolution ensemble weather forecasts or decadal climate forecasts for example, the statistical methods used to measure forecast performance must also develop. This meeting aims to describe recent advances in these verification methods and to discuss current challenges. Talks are expected to cover ensemble and high-resolution forecasts, forecasts of extreme events, spatial and object/feature-based verification, and timescales ranging from weather to seasonal and decadal.
This meeting is part of the Royal Meteorological Society National Meetings programme, open to all, from expert to enthusiast, for topical discussions on the latest advances in weather and climate.
Non members are welcome to attend these meetings. Where seating capacity is limited, priority will be given to members.
