A 2012 update to the National Space Technology Strategy has been published by the Space Special Interest Group on behalf of the National Space Technology Steering Group.
The original technology strategy was a result of the recommendations from the Space Innovation & Growth Strategy of 2009, and was published in 2011 to coincide with the launch of the UK Space Agency.
The updated iteration of the strategy features updates from the five Space National Technical Committees in the critical technology areas of Satellite Telecommunications; Sensing; Position, Navigation & Timing; Robotics & Exploration; and Access To Space. Each update gives an overview of that particular sub-sector area, as well as outlining the critical technologies required for missions and capabilities over the next 3 to 5 years, and a description of the key market areas for which those technologies are applicable.
The update also contains a foreword from the outgoing chair of the National Space Technology Steering Group, Professor Sir Keith O'Nions, Rector of Imperial College London.
