National Environmental Crime Conference 2013

27th November, 30 Euston Square, London

"Perspectives on the use of technology for preventing environmental crime"

Environmental crime and eco-security are issues on the agenda of national and local governments. These threats are a growing problem which have a direct impact on the global environment and human wellbeing.

Following on from the previous highly successful events, the fourth National Environmental Crime Conference will once again act as an international platform to bring together academic expertise with practitioners and policy-makers to discuss a range of current and future eco-crime problems such as wildlife crime, industrial pollution and illegal waste disposal. It will raise awareness with key stakeholders and explore remedial and preventative actions. In particular, the problem will be examined by bringing together an interdisciplinary effort using crime science, environmental and systems engineering approaches.

There will be a panel discussion, academic posters, a fundraising event and live demonstrations of some technologies that could be used to detect and prevent environmental crime.

The conference is organised by University College London's Jill Dando Institute of Security and Crime Science in partnership with the Knowledge Transfer Network.
