Modelling for Chemistry - Funding

General Funding Opportunities

Collaborative funding opportunities are available through themed calls from the TSB, Research Councils and other funding bodies. These will be publicised by the KTN when we become aware of them. The funding bodies include:

• Technology Strategy Board (TSB)
• Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC)
• Natural Environment Research Council (NERC)
• Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC)

A complied list of current (and recently closed) funding calls which are relevant to the chemistry using industries can be found here

Industrial Mathematics KTN Internships

The Industrial Mathematics Internships place a current PhD student into a company for a period of between 3 and 6 months, to carry out a stand-alone project that develops or exploits some capability in industrial mathematics. Modelling fits strongly into this area.

50% of the project cost is covered by the KTN with a company contribution of £4-7K depending on duration of the project

Industrial Mathematics UK Study Groups with Industry

The UK Study Group with Industry takes place every year

Areas: Modelling and simulation, data analysis, algorithm development, concept proof, design studies

Format: 60-80 mathematicians work on 6-7 industrial problems for 1 week

Input: the problem specified by the company

Output: the full report and support in securing a follow up funding for further investigations
