KTN's online platform helps you to make the connections you need

The Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN) has refreshed its online platform to intelligently connect you to relevant events, funding, thought pieces and specialist staff to help your business innovate and grow.

You can discover content using your area of interest, from ICT to transport; from space to health – all major UK economic sectors are covered. Once you have selected your interests, using our intelligent tagging system, we will then display rich and relevant content related to your area, often from surprising sources.

An example might be new satellite technology from the space sector that is applicable in the agri-food sector. KTN-UK.co.uk will help you form these unusual and valuable connections.

All content on the platform has been carefully curated by our team of innovation specialists – not by an automated algorithm – so you can be confident that KTN is connecting you to the most relevant cutting-edge information.

The move also marks a closer alignment with our main funder, Innovate UK , with the website branding making a clear visual link. Knowledge Transfer Network is Innovate UK's innovation network partner, and also works with other funders to provide innovation networking services and fulfil our mission to drive UK growth.

We link new ideas and opportunities with expertise, markets and finance through our network of businesses, universities, funders and investors. From agri-food to autonomous systems and from energy to design, KTN combines expertise in all sectors with the ability to cross boundaries. Connecting with KTN can lead to potential partners, horizon-expanding events and innovation insights relevant to your needs.

Big Data: Business Analytics - Technology Partnering Event

The ability of software and the hardware that supports it to process high volume, high velocity and high variability data is allowing unprecedented levels of customisation of products and services. This is of great interest to large corporations – and small – focused on making the most of their relationships with their customers and a fascinating industry is growing up to support this activity.

This event provides an opportunity for large and small companies to hear about new and potentially highly beneficial processes and techniques from both academia and industry. Complementing the technology pitches will be talks from industry on current needs and wants. The event aims to facilitate information exchange via these presentations followed by an afternoon of partnering discussions where companies can discuss directly with technology providers how the technology might be used in support of new product development.

Our keynote speaker is Professor Paul Boyle, of the Economic and Social Research Council and we have other industry and academia speakers including:

  • Mr Rakesh Harji, of Blue Yonder, who are sponsoring the event
  • Andrew Grant of Satalia, speaking about CERN/STFC CollSpotting
  • Philip Treleaven, director of the Financial Computing Centre at UCL
  • Giles Pavey, Chief Data Scientist of Dunnhumby

UCL, Birkbeck, Nottingham GRACE and Lancaster universities will also be presenting some of their novel work in this field and we invite other academics and SMEs who have novel technology they would like to present to get in touch. This is a major opportunity to present your work and to meet key players in the Data Analytics sector. If you would like to present your own novel work in this area, please email a short synopsis to Helen O'Connor.

The delegate rate is £100+VAT for non-UKIF members or £75+VAT for UKIF members.  A limited number of concessionary passes are available for full-time students, at £50. Catering is provided. To register for the event, use the register button.
