The Horizon 2020 programme is the major funding opportunity for research and innovation initiatives across Europe, running up until 2020. The size of the programme is considerable and in 2015 there was nearly 600 million Euros available.

The Horizon 2020 work programmes for 2016-17 have now been published by the European Commission.

Funding opportunities under Horizon 2020 are contained in bi-annual work programmes, which set out the large majority of support which is available. The work programmes are prepared by the European Commission through a process that integrates EU policy objectives into the priority setting.
