Skillweb, a High Wycombe based technology solutions company, has anounced the future release of SmartTask POD - a mobile application for tracking parcels.
SmartTask POD (Proof of Delivery) offers a parcel tracking solution, enabling a courier or delivery operative to scan parcels, create exceptions and capture signatures. The software will be able to be downloaded to a mobile device from a choice of app store to provide fast and secure access to the tracking system.
Suited to SMEs looking to adopt tracking for the first time
As the app is offered for mobile devices rather than a bespoke handheld device as most couriers currently use, it offers flexibility in choice of hardware and reduced cost, so is intended to be suited to SMEs looking to adopt tracking for the first time and larger networks wanting to better manage temporary and seasonal workers.
Cross platform but Android first, iOS "in second quarter"
Paul Ridden, Managing Director of Skillweb told transport KTN that the product is currently in beta, being tested with client companies to ensure reliability, on both the Andriod and Windows mobile platforms.
"We're looking to deploy cross platform - so hope to see the app available on Google Play in April and the Apple App Store perhaps in June or July."
The company offers various products for the healthcare as wel las the transport and logistics, and for the future says it is looking at other smartphone products that could cover different aspects such as reducing miles travelled by couriers.
