Register by 30th April for the EC public hearing on 112 using European GNSS

The European Commission is seeking input and views regarding five points related to the introduction of mobile phone-based GNSS positioning of emergency calls in Europe.  An event will be held in Brussels on 7th May 2014 where these points will be discussed.

The Commission will hold the hearing with stakeholders involved in providing emergency assistance in response to 112 calls to gather their insights and contributions with regard to the opportunity of enabling mobile phones to determine the caller location using the GNSS - and in particular the European GNSS - and to send it to public-safety answering points (PSAP).

This public hearing is intended for the following target groups:

  • Manufacturer of mobile telephones,
  • Software manufacturer,
  • Other manufacturer,
  • Mobile network operator,
  • PSAP operator,
