innovITS ADVANCE facility transferred to MIRA

InnovITS closes

As of 31st March 2013, innovITS, the UK ITS Centre for Transport Telematics and Technology for Sustainable Mobility ceased operation. Read more here.

Prior to closing, innovITS published a report detaling a sustainability impact framework and case analysis of energy and environment, presented at Traffex last week and which you can access from our document library here.

The operation of the test facility, innovITS ADVANCE, dedicated to the testing and demonstration of Cooperative Vehicle Infrastructure Systems, has been transferred to MIRA. This will assure the continuing success as MIRA will provide a natural home for this important industry resource within its comprehensive portfolio of test facilities extensive experience of operating such facilities.

The facility took five years to bring into operation from conception, through planning and obtaining funding and development in two phases. This has delivered a world class facility that is purpose built for testing telematics systems. It has involved the determined efforts of innovITS, working with its collaborators MIRA and TRL, to deliver a vision that everyone has declared a valuable and necessary resource for developing the next generation of telematics systems for use on our roads. Now firmly established, the sale to MIRA of the assets and business of innovITS ADVANCE will provide a future in which the facility can grow and evolve to remain a national resource for the development, validation and demonstration of technologies for interconnecting vehicles, highways and telecommunications.
