About the Job

  • Based at one of our six hub offices (Edinburgh, Cambridge, London, Horsham, Runcorn, Harwell) or home working.
  • Reporting to the Head of Agriculture

The Knowledge Transfer Network is a non-for profit organisation that is funded by Innovate UK to be the UK’s innovation network across a wide range of sectors. Our main role is to bring together businesses, entrepreneurs, academics and funders to develop new products, processes and services.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our team to deliver a range of activities (either individually or as part of a team) aimed at providing innovation support primarily for the Plant-Agriculture sector and Agri-food more generally. Highly motivated and self-starting with excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills, you will be excited by the challenges of working at the interface between industry, research groups and funding bodies on a wide variety of projects, at a time of phenomenal growth in scientific knowledge, changing industrial need and evolving funding mechanisms.

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level or above (preferably PhD) in a relevant subject (e.g. plant science, plant physiology, genetics, biological science) or another relevant discipline (such as business management). They will also have the ability to offer knowledge of state-of-the-art in one or more areas of relevance to the Plants and Crops sector and have the ability to develop an excellent network of industrial, academic and other contacts across the Plants, Crops and Agri-food sector.

Experience of knowledge transfer activities in a similar role would be beneficial, as would industrial experience in a relevant field. Eligibility to work in the UK is essential. Significant travel within the UK (and potentially European/International) will also be necessary, and possession of a full UK driving license would be an advantage.
