Climate Futures: Expression of Interest in Horizon2020 Partnership
Outline:Climate Futures is a technical consultancy and communication agency, which specialises in project delivery on environment and food themes. It is an-EC registered SME with six employees and long term contractors. It currently works on projects in the EU, Africa and the UK. It is based in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Selected Project Experience:
TESS (Towards European Societal Sustainability): an FP7 project. Started December 2013: one of eight consortium partners. Major research questions include ‘what factors create successful long term transitions to green communities’. Delivering technical support, joint leading on community stakeholder engagement and external dissemination, including development of an ‘Interactive Platform’, mapping and modelling green communities in Europe.
Climate Smart Agriculture. Started July 2013: is helping provide food security and diversity to 1500 farmers in Malawi’s Dowa district, developing a permaculture centre in Lilongwe and improving NGO networking. Leading on participatory video and communication.
JANEEMO: is a five-year agroforestry programme providing food, woodfuel and medicine to Malawian smallholders. Leading on communication.
Afri-Flame (EC AUC funded). Started March 2013: is a three year research programme into biogas technologies and application in Uganda, Ethiopia and Cameroon. Responsible for training, guidance documents, website and media.
Preferred H2020 roles and projects:
Climate Futures acts as a ‘bridge’ between researchers and the outside world. It provides project support including:
· Technical and advisory: footprinting, modelling and verification of carbon and other environmental data; agroforestry design and implementation.
· Research: review of academic and grey literature; desk research; reporting and tabulating.
· Communication: including brand design, website development, video and film making, media, reporting and briefing, newsletters.
