The KTN would like to congratulate Laura Corbin on being awarded the Genetics Society’s Sir Kenneth Mather Prize for 2012/13, following her nomination by her PhD supervisor, Professor John Woolliams of The Roslin Institute.
Professor Williams said, “The award is very prestigious and recognises the excellence of [Laura’s] PhD thesis and the achievements associated with it, and is very well deserved.”
Laura was one of our “KTN Associates” during her PhD, which gave her access to a programme of industrially relevant training.
Having successfully completed her PhD on ‘The application of genomic technologies to the horse,’ Laura continuing to use her research skills in her current post-doctoral position within the MRC Integrative Epidemiology Unit at the University of Bristol.
The Sir Kenneth Mather Memorial Prize is an annual award to a BSc, MSc or PhD student of any UK University or Research Institution who has shown outstanding performance in the area of quantitative or population genetics.
