Consumer Products through Industrial Biotechnology across the Value Chain
On 5th June 2014, the Knowledge Transfer Network on behalf of the Industrial Biotechnology Leadership Forum are hosting an event on ‘Consumer Products through Industrial Biotechnology across the Value Chain’ at The Midland Hotel, Peter Street, Manchester, M60 2DS (SAT NAV Post Code: M2 3NQ) between 09:30 and 16:00.
One significant driver for the chemistry-using industries is the increasing consumer demand for ‘natural products’ often at no additional cost. Natural consumer products could include home and personal care, flavours and fragrances, paints and coatings and packaging to name but a few and Industrial Biotechnology is a key enabling technology to meet this demand.
The objective of this event is not only to showcase existing industrial biotechnology derived consumer products, but to consider alternative, new and unusual scientific developments within this field, and to bring together the community to build and strengthen supply chains, create new networks and to stimulate new ideas accross the value chain.
At a glance the event will cover:
- The demand and drivers for natural consumer products
- Natural consumer products from a 'brand owners' perspective
- Natural consumer products from a 'producers' perspective
- Natural consumer products from a 'technology providers' perspective
- National and European funding opportunities relevant to Industrial Biotechnology and Natural Products (IB Catalyst Fund and Horizon 2020)
- New national centres which will support UK businesses to accelerate innovation in the production of natural products
