The Department of Applied Sciences at Northumbria University has internationally recognised expertise in genomics, metabolomics and proteomic research. The Department has recently benefitted from significant investment to build its capacity in developing multi-omics and analytical capabilities to support our Bioeconomy-related research, with the aim of maintaining and improving the University’s national and international reputation in this academic field. These appointments will strengthen research and research-led teaching in the Bioeconomy theme.
You will have primary responsibility for the management of relevant laboratory facilities in order to ensure optimal utilisation for research purposes. In addition, you will be expected to develop your own research relevant programme to enhance the quality and profile of research activity within this multidisciplinary theme.
You will have extensive knowledge and expertise in at least one of the following areas: analytical/preparative methods, genomics and metagenomics, metabolomics or proteomics and a PhD in a relevant biological or chemical science area.
The Fellowship will be for three years in the first instance with the expectation of progression to a permanent academic position at the end of the Fellowship subject to satisfactory progress.
