HSE needs new members for scientific advisory committee

SACGM(CU) provides independent technical and scientific advice to HSE and Defra, as well as their counterparts in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Its remit covers all aspects of the human and environmental risks from the contained use of genetically modified organisms (GMOs). In particular the Committee has the following specific roles:

  • to advise on the technical aspects of policy development in this field;
  • to provide detailed advice on risk assessments for contained use activities involving GMOs; and
  • to develop and update guidance on all aspects of contained use of GMOs including the Compendium of Guidance.

SACGM(CU) was established in 2004 and replaced the esteemed Advisory Committee on Genetic Modification together with its Technical Subcommittee. For more information about SACGM(CU) and its membership please visit the HSE web community.

 

SACGM(CU) are looking for high calibre applicants with proven track record at national/international level in the following disciplines:

  • synthetic biology
  • industrial biotechnology
  • molecular virology
  • environmental microbiology
  • clinical virology
