Funding for Scottish companies to develop opportunities in biofuel and bioenergy

The Scottish Biofuel Programme is awarding a total of £50,000 in the first quarter of 2014 to Scottish companies who want to evaluate and develop opportunities in biofuel and bioenergy.

The deadline for applications is 28th February 2014.

About the awards

Successful applicants will obtain funding for projects delivered by one of Scottish Biofuel Programme's industry leading academic or research partners or alternatively by one of their appointed bioenergy and engineering consultancies. The Programme partners include internationally renowned experts in biofuel technology from Edinburgh Napier University, University of Abertay Dundee, University of Edinburgh, Scottish Association for Marine Science and SRUC/SAC Consulting. The Programme also has a framework of leading bioenergy and engineering consultancies that includes E4tech (UK) Ltd, SLR Consulting Ltd, Ramboll UK Ltd, RPS Ireland Ltd and Zebec Biogas Ltd.

In addition to projects delivered by the Programme’s academic partners, awards can fund projects delivered by other academic or research institutions. Types of projects funded can include: desktop research; identification of appropriate technology for individual waste streams; laboratory analysis of biomass to assess biofuel potential and process optimisation.
