Carlsberg "Cheers to green ideas" awarded: Using microalgae to produce biomass

Congratulations to the 2 students from Heriot-Watt University that won the Cheers from green ideas award from Carlsberg.

Cheers to green ideas” is an initiative to source-crowding ideas to make beer more sustainable.  The ideas provided should help Carlsberg improve the environmental impact of beer, from production of raw materials, to brewing and transportation, all the way through to recycling of packaging. They should also inspire positive change in consumer behaviour to help drive a more sustainable future.

They collected 162 green ideas from 33 different countries. From all these ideas it was awarded the idea of using microalgae to produce biomass in the Carlsberg breweries:
