The Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) has funded 13 unique collaborative Networks in Industrial Biotechnology and Bioenergy (BBSRC NIBB) to boost interaction between the academic research base and industry, promoting the translation of research into benefits for the UK. The Networks provide proof of concept funding and Business Interaction Vouchers.
Business Interaction Vouchers:
Used to encourage and support collaboration between academic partners and industrial partners within the BBSRC NIBB framework. A BIV could be used to support a defined piece of work by the academic partner for the industrial partner. In addition to carrying out a defined piece of work by the academic partner for the industry partner, the purpose of these vouchers is to foster the framework needed for a longer-term relationship involving bigger and more complex problems. The vouchers are £5k in value (inclusive of VAT) and must be matched by the industrial partner in cash or in kind.
