KTN's online platform helps you to make the connections you need

The Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN) has refreshed its online platform to intelligently connect you to relevant events, funding, thought pieces and specialist staff to help your business innovate and grow.

You can discover content using your area of interest, from ICT to transport; from space to health – all major UK economic sectors are covered. Once you have selected your interests, using our intelligent tagging system, we will then display rich and relevant content related to your area, often from surprising sources.

An example might be new satellite technology from the space sector that is applicable in the agri-food sector. KTN-UK.co.uk will help you form these unusual and valuable connections.

All content on the platform has been carefully curated by our team of innovation specialists – not by an automated algorithm – so you can be confident that KTN is connecting you to the most relevant cutting-edge information.

The move also marks a closer alignment with our main funder, Innovate UK , with the website branding making a clear visual link. Knowledge Transfer Network is Innovate UK's innovation network partner, and also works with other funders to provide innovation networking services and fulfil our mission to drive UK growth.

We link new ideas and opportunities with expertise, markets and finance through our network of businesses, universities, funders and investors. From agri-food to autonomous systems and from energy to design, KTN combines expertise in all sectors with the ability to cross boundaries. Connecting with KTN can lead to potential partners, horizon-expanding events and innovation insights relevant to your needs.

MEX: mobile UX scholarship places available. Deadline 16th August

For two days, twice a year, 100 of the brightest minds in mobile user experience come together in an inspiring venue to learn techniques, define best practice and create new ideas.

Now in its 11th international edition, the next MEX is on 19th - 20th September 2012 in London and, as sponsors, the ICT Knowledge Transfer Network is offering scholarship places for 8 members to attend (membership is free).

MEX is based around Pathways, ongoing initiatives combining pre-event research provocations, a two day agenda of speaker presentations and working sessions, followed by a complete post-event summary of videos, sketches and notes. The 6 Pathways in focus at the next MEX event are:

  • Diffusion: Advance best practice for multi-touchpoint experience design (Pathway #2)
  • Concurrency: Develop interface designs for multi-person, simultaneous use of touchscreens (Pathway #3)
  • Sensation: Expand mobile interactions with the neglected dimensions of sound and tactility (Pathway #9)
  • Context: Define techniques for context aware user experience (Pathway #14)
  • Clarity: Develop design strategy for increased visual clarity and pixel density in mobile displays (Pathway #15)
  • Speed: Explore implications of speed in customer experience and how to achieve it (Pathway #16)

There are only 100 participant places, usually priced between £999 early bird and £1499 standard. Every MEX sells out in advance so please register today.

To apply for a scholarship, tell us about yourself, why you want to attend and answer a simple question about mobile user experience on the MEX website.  There are no restrictions on who can apply, but Scholarship places will only be allocated to individuals and small companies who are rich in ideas but short on budget. The deadline for applications is Thursday 16th August.
