KTN's online platform helps you to make the connections you need

The Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN) has refreshed its online platform to intelligently connect you to relevant events, funding, thought pieces and specialist staff to help your business innovate and grow.

You can discover content using your area of interest, from ICT to transport; from space to health – all major UK economic sectors are covered. Once you have selected your interests, using our intelligent tagging system, we will then display rich and relevant content related to your area, often from surprising sources.

An example might be new satellite technology from the space sector that is applicable in the agri-food sector. KTN-UK.co.uk will help you form these unusual and valuable connections.

All content on the platform has been carefully curated by our team of innovation specialists – not by an automated algorithm – so you can be confident that KTN is connecting you to the most relevant cutting-edge information.

The move also marks a closer alignment with our main funder, Innovate UK , with the website branding making a clear visual link. Knowledge Transfer Network is Innovate UK's innovation network partner, and also works with other funders to provide innovation networking services and fulfil our mission to drive UK growth.

We link new ideas and opportunities with expertise, markets and finance through our network of businesses, universities, funders and investors. From agri-food to autonomous systems and from energy to design, KTN combines expertise in all sectors with the ability to cross boundaries. Connecting with KTN can lead to potential partners, horizon-expanding events and innovation insights relevant to your needs.

Collaboration across Digital Industries

Earlier this year, the Technology Strategy Board announced that it is making £18m available for collaborative R&D as part of the digital services programme.

The competition for fasttrack projects is now open, with a deadline of July 22, and opens for mainstream projects on July 12.  We encourage you to get involved!

The Creative Industries KTN has been hosting a series of events to help creative businesses get involved and find technology partners from industry or academia, learn more about eligibility and how to submit a proposal. There will be an additional event on July 5, in London,  run jointly by the Digital Communications and creative Industries KTNs.

The fund is designed to promote lasting alliances between companies and organisations, to develop cutting edge technology products and support the growth of the UK’s creative and digital sectors. Competition entries can pitch for up to £100,000 in funding as part of the fast track, or for larger projects, funds of up to £3,000,000 are available.

The Technology Strategy Board has identified three challenge areas:

* people
* digital content and services
* networks.

In this first round, up to £10m will be provided to support collaborations between industry sectors, which must substantially address at least two of these challenge areas. Funding will be split into:

*fast-track projects: up to £100k in total project value. These should be completed within 12 months, and
*mainstream projects: more than £100k in total project value. These will last from about 12 months up to a maximum of 24 months.

Best of luck with your proposals - please let us know how you get on!

More information is available here and here.
