Funding opportunity for ICT innovation in manufacturing and construction

Today, the Technology Strategy Board launched a new £7m CR&D competition on ICT for manufacturing and construction.  The closing date for Expressions of Interest is Aug 3rd 2011 but to enter the competition you must register by July 27th.  More information can be found at: http://www.innovateuk.org/content/competition/ict-for-manufacturing-and-construction.ashx

 

This group is a space in which people with an interest in this competition can exchange ideas and information about potential projects or partnerships and receive the latest information about the competition as it becomes available.

 

The competition is aimed at stimulating applications of new or recent ICT developments to address major challenges in manufacturing and construction.  In particular, there are challenges in: 

  • deriving and reusing knowledge
  • interoperability across supply chains
  • engaging users in design and operation processes
  • accelerating product and process innovation

Lots of ICTs might have a role to play here including but not limited to:

  • social media
  • augmented reality
  • games console interfaces
  • computer gaming
  • instrumentation and automation
  • simulation
  • search technology
