ICASE Awards 2011
Until 2011, the Creative Industries KTN was an official ICASE agent, allocated six EPSRC ICASE studentships per year for creative industries-related projects.
In 2012, the EPSRC made the decision to stop using agents, and applications for 2012 should be made direct to the EPSRC.
The 2011 application page has been left below as a reference.
ICASE Awards are three and a half year postgraduate awards, funded by the UK Research Councils and allocated to companies either directly or via agents such as Knowledge Transfer Networks and Regional Development Agencies. ICASE Awards enable companies to take the lead in defining and arranging projects with an academic partner of their choice.
For 2011, industrial sponsors are required to pay a minimum of one third of the total EPSRC contribution. This translates to total minimum payments of £23,040 for the industrial sponsor and an estimated total amount of £69,121 from the EPSRC.
Regular contact should be maintained between the project partner supervisor/s, student and Creative Industries KTN throughout the lifetime of the project. IP rights are agreed mutually between the research student, university and company at the outset of the project. Only companies with a UK research and/or manufacturing base are eligible for this competition.
Please bear in mind that proposals in the priority areas identified by the Creative Industries KTN will be given priority. These are:
- Meta-data Infrastructure Development
- Cross-platform Interoperability and Convergence
- New Business Models for Digital Industries and their Impact
- Other Key Technology Areas (i.e. New materials, wearable electronic and functional performance clothing).
If your project doesn't fall into these four areas, you can check whether another KTN is offering a more relevant sector/ priority area for which you can apply.
Further details about our priority areas are given in the 'Guidance Criteria and Priorities' document which can be found in 'How to apply for an ICASE award' below.
