KTN's online platform helps you to make the connections you need

The Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN) has refreshed its online platform to intelligently connect you to relevant events, funding, thought pieces and specialist staff to help your business innovate and grow.

You can discover content using your area of interest, from Defence Security to transport; from space to health – all major UK economic sectors are covered. Once you have selected your interests, using our intelligent tagging system, we will then display rich and relevant content related to your area, often from surprising sources.

An example might be new satellite technology from the space sector that is applicable in the agri-food sector. KTN-UK.co.uk will help you form these unusual and valuable connections.

All content on the platform has been carefully curated by our team of innovation specialists – not by an automated algorithm – so you can be confident that KTN is connecting you to the most relevant cutting-edge information.

The move also marks a closer alignment with our main funder, Innovate UK , with the website branding making a clear visual link. Knowledge Transfer Network is Innovate UK's innovation network partner, and also works with other funders to provide innovation networking services and fulfil our mission to drive UK growth.

We link new ideas and opportunities with expertise, markets and finance through our network of businesses, universities, funders and investors. From agri-food to autonomous systems and from energy to design, KTN combines expertise in all sectors with the ability to cross boundaries. Connecting with KTN can lead to potential partners, horizon-expanding events and innovation insights relevant to your needs.

Request from OLS for digital health company registration

Request from DHACA (Digital Health And Care Alliance)

If you are in the private sector, please take a little time to read & consider the request because the bigger the digital health sector is recognised to be, the more likely it is to receive favourable treatment in future. If responsibility for this activity in your company is with someone else, please forward this request to them.

CBSL on behalf of the OLS has for the last 6 years been compiling and updating a database on companies in the UK life sciences sector.  The database now contains over 5,000 companies operating in the medical technology and biopharmaceutical sector and is used by OLS to produce the annual Strength & Opportunities report that gives a detailed view of the economic activity in these important industry sectors. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/bioscience-and-health-technology-database-annual-report-2015

One of the key areas in the UK life sciences sector is digital health and this year as in 2015/16 the intention is specifically to highlight the scale of the economic activity in the UK digital health sector.

The OLS is keen that the full extent of the UK activity in this sector is captured and is requesting help in two areas. Firstly, for companies in the sector to let the OLS know so they can include their information in the database and also add it to the UKTI website (see https://www.lifesciences.ukti.gov.uk/ to see if your company is already included).

Secondly, the OLS is approaching companies that they know have significant activity in the digital health sector that also are active in other industry sectors (and therefore data on UK employment in digital health may not be reported separately). The OLS is keen to gather information from companies via a short confidential online survey and are asking whether your company would be prepared to respond to such a survey.  The key information they require is: which segments of digital health that companies are engaged in; UK employment in digital health; and sales revenue generated from UK activity.
