KTN's online platform helps you to make the connections you need

The Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN) has refreshed its online platform to intelligently connect you to relevant events, funding, thought pieces and specialist staff to help your business innovate and grow.

You can discover content using your area of interest, from Defence Security to transport; from space to health – all major UK economic sectors are covered. Once you have selected your interests, using our intelligent tagging system, we will then display rich and relevant content related to your area, often from surprising sources.

An example might be new satellite technology from the space sector that is applicable in the agri-food sector. KTN-UK.co.uk will help you form these unusual and valuable connections.

All content on the platform has been carefully curated by our team of innovation specialists – not by an automated algorithm – so you can be confident that KTN is connecting you to the most relevant cutting-edge information.

The move also marks a closer alignment with our main funder, Innovate UK , with the website branding making a clear visual link. Knowledge Transfer Network is Innovate UK's innovation network partner, and also works with other funders to provide innovation networking services and fulfil our mission to drive UK growth.

We link new ideas and opportunities with expertise, markets and finance through our network of businesses, universities, funders and investors. From agri-food to autonomous systems and from energy to design, KTN combines expertise in all sectors with the ability to cross boundaries. Connecting with KTN can lead to potential partners, horizon-expanding events and innovation insights relevant to your needs.

Industrial Evolution at Holyrood

Industrial Evolution at Holyrood

17 March | 5.30pm – 7.30pm | Members Room, Holyrood

Jayne Baxter MSP, the Manufacturing Commission and Scottish Enterprise are delighted to invite you to an event to promote the Manufacturing Commission’s report: “Industrial Evolution – Making British Manufacturing Sustainable” and the newly launched "Manufacturing Action Plan for Scotland: “A Manufacturing Future for Scotland”.

About the Report

The report was published at the end of October 2015 and focuses on the manufacturing sector and the various obstacles it needs to overcome in the near future to ensure long-term social, economic and ecological sustainability. A strategic focus on non-labour productivity will be required to meet the challenges currently facing British manufacturing, from dwindling natural resources, an innovation deficit and the development of a skills base for long term future.

The Manufacturing Action Plan

Whilst manufacturing in the UK is currently facing significant challenges, there are numerous opportunities still to be grasped. It is a crucial sector of the economy, and maintains an important historical and cultural significance for Scotland. The new manufacturing action plan announced at the end of February comprises key measures for industry and Government to ensure that we work together to realise Scotland’s manufacturing potential.

Speakers include:

Jayne Baxter MSP – Chair and member of the Cross-Party Group in the Scottish Parliament on Industrial Communities

Michael Folkerson -  Manager of the Manufacturing Commission

Nick Shields – Director of the Scottish Manufacturing Advisory Service

Professor Jonathan Corney – Co-Director, Scottish Institute for Remanufacture

The reception forms part of our work to follow up on our report. We look forward to welcoming members of the industry and policymaking community to discuss the opportunities presented by the Manufacturing Action Plan, and key measures to help improve industrial sustainability.
