Precision Medicine UK: Collaboration Nation
9th December, London
Bringing the UK precision medicine ecosystem together under one roof, for one day.
Request for expressions of interest
Precision (or Stratified) medicine has the potential to provide better care management and treatment of patients with a shared diagnosis. Different sub-groups of patients will receive the targeted care most appropriate for them, thereby increasing efficacy and reducing adverse events. The use of precision medicine will move therapy selection from a trial-and-error approach to a predictive approach, based on high-quality scientific, clinical and economic evidence.
Substantial progress has been made in the UK in the past five years to realise the potential of precision medicine with:
-
Major public and private funding/investments having been made in the discovery and development of precision medicine solutions.
-
Strong enabling infrastructure having been established, to help innovators, by enabling access to researchers , the UK’s leading clinical research capabilities, patients and the NHS.
To assist developers of precision medicine solutions identify opportunities for partnering with and benefitting from the UK’s precision medicine ecosystem, the UK’s Stratified Medicine Programme Coordination Group (detailed below), whose members have together invested more than £200 million in the field, is organising an event to provide an introduction to the UK landscape.
9th December 2015 in London
This event will provide a unique opportunity to engage with the UK precision medicine landscape spanning from research, through development to adoption. Attendees will include a wide variety of innovators, investors, UK funding bodies, representatives from the regulatory and evaluation authorities, as well as commissioners/end users. Active participation from all the attendees will be encouraged.
The aims of the event are to
-
Showcase leading UK scientific, methodological, technological and commercial developments in the field of precision medicine
-
Facilitate interaction with the UK enabling infrastructure
-
Foster collaboration
Attendees will be able to learn from real-world examples of the discovery and development of precision medicine solutions, through talks, panel discussions, workshops and exhibitions, and will have the opportunity to arrange one-to-one partnering meetings.
Attendance at the event will be free of charge. As capacity for the meeting is only 200 places and so as to ensure an equitable balance of participants by background (industrial, academic and clinical), the organisers are inviting Expressions of interest (EOIs) for attendance at this event. EOIs are welcomed from leading precision medicine innovators from academia, microbusinesses, SMEs, large businesses and the third sector.
The organisers reserve the right to limit the number of places from the same organisation, to ensure a diverse multidisciplinary group.
The deadline for the submission of EOIs is September 30th and we will provide applicants with the outcome of their EOI by October 20th
The Programme Coordination Group (PCG) brings together representatives from UK government, learned society, and charities (membership appended below), to help ensure that, through coordinated action, the UK has the right environment to capture the patient and economic benefits offered by precision medicine.
