KTN's online platform helps you to make the connections you need

The Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN) has refreshed its online platform to intelligently connect you to relevant events, funding, thought pieces and specialist staff to help your business innovate and grow.

You can discover content using your area of interest, from Defence Security to transport; from space to health – all major UK economic sectors are covered. Once you have selected your interests, using our intelligent tagging system, we will then display rich and relevant content related to your area, often from surprising sources.

An example might be new satellite technology from the space sector that is applicable in the agri-food sector. KTN-UK.co.uk will help you form these unusual and valuable connections.

All content on the platform has been carefully curated by our team of innovation specialists – not by an automated algorithm – so you can be confident that KTN is connecting you to the most relevant cutting-edge information.

The move also marks a closer alignment with our main funder, Innovate UK , with the website branding making a clear visual link. Knowledge Transfer Network is Innovate UK's innovation network partner, and also works with other funders to provide innovation networking services and fulfil our mission to drive UK growth.

We link new ideas and opportunities with expertise, markets and finance through our network of businesses, universities, funders and investors. From agri-food to autonomous systems and from energy to design, KTN combines expertise in all sectors with the ability to cross boundaries. Connecting with KTN can lead to potential partners, horizon-expanding events and innovation insights relevant to your needs.

Bio-entrepreneur Boot Camp at BioHub

The next Bio-entrepreneur Boot Camp at BioHub will take place from the 12th – 14th January 2016.

This intense two and a half day programme is suitable for anyone wishing to learn the tools and techniques to explore their own life science start-up business idea, or to stress test their current company product, services, and business model.

It is not essential to have a well explored business plan to participate and the programme is suited equally to those who have a spark of an idea they wish to evaluate, through to fully formed companies.

The aim of the boot camp is to help you create products and or services that match the needs of your customers. It is the first step in a series of business support programmes that BioCity runs at the BioHub for pre-start and start-up businesses in the life science arena.

One question regularly asked by participants is around NDAs and IP. It is also not necessary to have IP in place for any products/ideas you wish to explore, and participants are not required to sign non-disclosure agreements.  This is because you will not be describing your idea at the detailed level that would risk disclosure and hence the ability to copy an idea for a product or service.  If you have any concerns we are happy to discuss those with you prior to the event.

It is important that participants attend all elements of the boot camp and the timings for the January boot camp are as follows:

Tuesday 12th 14:00 until approx. 20:00

Wednesday 13th January 08:00 – 18:00 workshops and activities followed by the boot camp dinner 18:30 -21:00 approx.

Thursday 14th January 08:00 until 17:00.

To register an interest to attend the January Bio-Entrepreneur boot camp email sarak.king@biohubatalderley.co.uk

Further information will be sent out to all registered participants at the beginning of December.
