KTN's online platform helps you to make the connections you need


The Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN) has refreshed its online platform to intelligently connect you to relevant events, funding, thought pieces and specialist staff to help your business innovate and grow.

You can discover content using your area of interest, from Defence Security to transport; from space to health – all major UK economic sectors are covered. Once you have selected your interests, using our intelligent tagging system, we will then display rich and relevant content related to your area, often from surprising sources.

An example might be new satellite technology from the space sector that is applicable in the agri-food sector. KTN-UK.co.uk will help you form these unusual and valuable connections.

All content on the platform has been carefully curated by our team of innovation specialists – not by an automated algorithm – so you can be confident that KTN is connecting you to the most relevant cutting-edge information.


The move also marks a closer alignment with our main funder, Innovate UK , with the website branding making a clear visual link. Knowledge Transfer Network is Innovate UK's innovation network partner, and also works with other funders to provide innovation networking services and fulfil our mission to drive UK growth.

I-TAC Challenge Competition

Would your business benefit from up to six months free access to our laboratories, specialist facilities and equipment to accelerate your technology development?

If the answer is yes enter the I-TAC Challenge Competition

Based at Sci Tech Daresbury, I-TAC (Innovations Technology Access Centre) provides access to flexible, fully equipped biology, wet chemistry and materials laboratories for ambitious new companies. Through ready access to an impressive array of shared lab facilities, including fume cupboards, de-ionised water, gases and analytical services, up-front capital costs are reduced allowing you the time to focus on developing your business and focussing investment where it is needed. As part of STFC’s business incubation offering, companies can either lease their own exclusive self-contained lab or opt for access to a ‘hot lab’ and multi-user areas available on an hourly, daily, weekly or monthly basis to deliver a project.

Businesses are invited to submit an application form outlining their requirements and how they believe I-TAC and the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) can support their business to develop.

Drop In Days

In the run up to the deadline STFC will be hosting a drop in event to allow candidates the opportunity to view the facilities and equipment at I-TAC can help your business develop and grow. 

Drop in days will be held at I-TAC on: 11th February from 10am – 1pm and 24th February from 2pm - 4pm

The closing date for applications is Friday 18th March 2015 at 5pm 

Shortlisted applicants will be selected by an STFC panel and will be expected to deliver a 10 minute presentation outlining the aims and objectives of their business and how I-TAC will support them to achieve this.
