Thomas Swan Receives Innovate UK Grant following “Advancing the Commercial Applications of Graphene” Competition.

Thomas Swan is pleased to announce the recent award of additional Innovate UK funding for two new collaborative projects following the “Advancing the Commercial Applications of Graphene” funding competition held last year.

The first project will see the Thomas Swan Advanced Materials team work alongside Plessey Semiconductors Ltd., Nano Products Ltd. and Nottingham Trent and Strathclyde universities on flexible LEDs.

The second project will involve a partnership with DelStar International Ltd., Haydale Ltd. and the University of Bradford to develop plastic composites for advanced separations. Both projects are due to start on 1st April 2016.

Andy Goodwin, Commercial Director for the Advanced Materials Division at Thomas Swan stated:

“We are very pleased to be working with such high quality collaborative partners in both projects. These Innovate UK projects offer an excellent opportunity to work with leading research institutes and application developers in our target markets.”

Thomas Swan & Co. Ltd. continues to extend its capability to produce high quality Graphene. Following recent investments, the company will increase its capacity to 15 tonnes of Graphene during 2016.

The company also recognises that the principal challenge in Graphene commercialisation remains the identification and optimisation of applications in which Graphene technologies add value. Therefore, the company continues to work actively with partners to develop commercial applications for these unique materials.

The KTN Graphene Special Interest Group held a number of workshops and events for the Innovate UK funding competition, including the official briefing event in London.  To be kept up to date on all the latest news and events follow us on Twitter:
