Researchers in China, Singapore and the USA have collaborated to develop a hybrid fibre of micro scale graphene and carbon nanotubes that can form a flexible supercapacitor when melded to a polymer substrate with a polymer gel electolyte. The supercapacitor can run low power devices and LED's delivering power comparable to a Li-ion thin film battery.
Not only could it be woven into clothing to power health monitors, GPS and other mobile devices, but as important might be the ability to lighten the battery load in electric vehicles and be ablt ot fit them into all manner of small and awkward spaces.
