Improving health management through food and diet
Diet can have a profound effect upon health and can be used to prevent or delay the onset of medical conditions.
EU regulations define separate sectors of "Food", "Dietary Supplements" and "Medicines" and while science may be blurring the boundaries between these sectors, the challenge for the future is to work within regulatory constraints to offer foods which allow the diet of the nation to be improved.
Accelerating the transition to proactive health management through food and diet will be a major area of focus for the Knowledge Transfer Network. The primary alignment of KTN activities will be with national priorities identified by the Department of Health and the Food Standards Agency, with secondary activities in emerging areas.
