KTN's online platform helps you to make the connections you need

The Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN) has refreshed its online platform to intelligently connect you to relevant events, funding, thought pieces and specialist staff to help your business innovate and grow.

You can discover content using your area of interest, from Electronics, Sensors, Photonics to transport; from space to health – all major UK economic sectors are covered. Once you have selected your interests, using our intelligent tagging system, we will then display rich and relevant content related to your area, often from surprising sources.

An example might be new satellite technology from the space sector that is applicable in the agri-food sector. KTN-UK.co.uk will help you form these unusual and valuable connections.

All content on the platform has been carefully curated by our team of innovation specialists – not by an automated algorithm – so you can be confident that KTN is connecting you to the most relevant cutting-edge information.

The move also marks a closer alignment with our main funder, Innovate UK , with the website branding making a clear visual link. Knowledge Transfer Network is Innovate UK's innovation network partner, and also works with other funders to provide innovation networking services and fulfil our mission to drive UK growth.

We link new ideas and opportunities with expertise, markets and finance through our network of businesses, universities, funders and investors. From agri-food to autonomous systems and from energy to design, KTN combines expertise in all sectors with the ability to cross boundaries. Connecting with KTN can lead to potential partners, horizon-expanding events and innovation insights relevant to your needs.

UK Plastic Electronics Research Conference

10th – 11th December 2013

Burleigh Court, Holywell, Loughborough University

The UK Plastic Electronics Research Conference is a two-day event providing researchers from UK universities with the opportunity to showcase their work to industry and academia.

Presentations are sought at postgraduate level on any subject related to printed, plastic, organic and large area electronics. Potential topics could comprise, but are not restricted to, recent developments in applications, materials and processing. Examples include applications, OLEDs, OPVs, smart packaging, printed biosensors, developments in thin film printing or vacuum processing and in understanding of underpinning physics etc.

The conference will be a great opportunity for researchers to present their work and to meet others from around the country who are working in similar fields. As a gathering of leading industry and academia it will offer potential for professional development and possible collaborations.

Abstracts should be max 200 words outlining research highlights to be presented to members of the plastic & printed electronics industry either as a short 10-minute presentation or as a printed poster. It is possible to submit abstracts for more than one poster and we would encourage presenters to submit a poster describing their work.

This event is open to all. The registration for speakers is free of charge and will include lunch, gala dinner and refreshments. Furthermore, funds are available by the IOP Printing and Graphic Science Group for basic travel expenses of speakers. For overnight accommodation special rates will be available.

There will be several prizes awarded for best student presentations at the conference.

Initial deadline for submitting abstracts is Friday 1st November 2013

Deadline extended until Wednesday 13th November 2013

Abstract submission is now closed. For further information on the event and to register please visit:

After the deadline there will be a sifting panel of experts from ESP KTN & the IOP PGS,  to select abstracts for presentations and/or poster displays. Due to the short format style we would encourage all delegates to bring a poster regardless of whether they are asked to speak.

Abstracts can be emailed to plasticelectronics@espktn.org
