The Raspberry Pi computer goes on general sale

Back to Basics
I remember when you had to build a computer (from components) before you could do any home computing.

After years of using pre-built computers and pre-written applications it is interesting to watch the developments in the embedded systems sector - and the latest release the Rapberry Pi.

See article on BBC site for further details:

I probably learnt as much from those early systems as I did from many computer and electronics text books at university.  They were hard work (when they didn't work) but what fun.

Maybe these new embedded systems will allow children to learn about computers and become enthusastic about hte platform rather than the latest game.

1 person has had something to say so far

As an ex-Acorn employee from BBC Micro days, I am delighted with the support this project has. I couldn't get onto Farnell or RS website yesterday to order, and the first 10,000 had all gone by lunchtime emoticon
