The Carbon Tracker Initiative has just published a report 'Lost in Translation: How the energy sector is missing potential demand destruction' This report was authored by: Luke Sussams, James Leaton, Tom Drew

The Carbon Tracker Initiative is a team of financial specialists taht aims to make climate risk real in financial markets. Their research to date on unburnable carbon and stranded assets has started a new debate on how to align the financial system with the energy transition to a low carbon future. 

The report analyses a range of future demand scenarios and energy demand assumption.

Carbon Tracker is a not for profit that aims to produce new thinking on climate risk. The recommendations from this report are that:-

  • Investors need to understand where company scenarios are on the spectrum of demand assumptions.
  • Companies need to explain how their business model would change in a lower demand scenario
