This community has been estbalished to support the transition of the construction sector to a modern, digitally enabled industry.

In February 2014, Innovate UK launched its competition "Digitising the construction sector" which awarded up to £6M in funding to consortia to develop solutions to transform the sector to a more industrialised approach using digitally enabled processes to:

improve levels of collaboration and innovation within the sector leading to higher levels of performance.

This sought to stimulate the industry to:

devise novel processes, products or services that improve the efficiency of the delivery of construction projects

AND to specifically:

develop solutions which work with the BIM framework at Level 2 in readiness for the Governments mandate of it's use for centrally procured works in 2016.

10 projects comprising 38 companies were awarded funding of £5.6M and commenced in April 2015.  They are expected to complete by the end of 2017.
