This is a brief overview of the above report, prepared for invited participants to the Design Defence Disruption workshop on 24th April, 2014. The report was prepared to explore where and how to focus DOD funding to provide ‘superior capability’ in 2030. It provides a quick, cold, brushstroke of an ageing ‘western’ world, with a growing young population elsewhere, who are born or migrate towards cities. Cities, by their nature, are near large bodies of water and therefore more likely to feel effects of climate change. The overview doesn’t seek to define a scenario, intent or focus, but hints at a fast changing world (including budgets) that will require new approaches to maintain our current position.
