Invitation to APDIG panel discussion on 17 March - 'Designed and Made in Britain?'

Following the launch of the Design and Technology Association Designed and Made in Britain campaign, this event will focus on wider concerns around the sharp decline in takeup of design education

With growing concern about the impact of the Ebacc on the provision of creative subjects, Design and Technology teachers reporting record low levels of job satisfaction and universities routinely complaining about the lack of tactile or technical skill held by incoming students, there is mounting pressure on the skills supply of designers and engineers in the UK. 
 
However, it is a mixed picture for the future of design education - university applications to design courses have not been as adversely affected by fee hikes as much as in other subjects, and recent changes to the A-Level and GCSE D&T curriculum are largely positive, bringing the discipline closer in line with industry and real-world challenges, incorporating human design principles, for example. 
 
APDIG invite you to listen to this panel discussion, take part in the Q&A and meet with colleagues to share your concerns, as well as helping the APDIG to formulate their position.
