Mi (More independent) is a Government-funded initiative that is being piloted across four UK regions. Liverpool has been chosen as one of the pilot areas.
The Mi partnership is funded by the Technology Strategy Board, which finds ways to boost the UK economy through technological innovations.
Mi has been designed to:
enable you to take charge of your health, wellbeing and lifestyle
use technology to allow you to feel safer and live more independently in your own home
give peace of mind to yourself and your family
reduce the amount of time you have to spend on appointments, by supporting you to manage better at home
Mi offers a wide range of ways to increase independence, some of which are aimed at those with health needs. But it is also suitable for people who are looking ahead, and planning the next stage of their lives. The gadgets offered – Life Enhancing Technologies – can help you live more independently, monitor your health, make everyday life simpler, and help you stay in touch with your family or carers. They offer security, and the chance to take control.
A Smart House has been built in Liverpool. You can also see a version of it here. The Smart House shows you a selection of the different tools that are available, and the ways they can change your life.
Try It! week 12-16 April 2015. Grants of up to £500 available to organisations who want to try something new! http://t.co/lzf5lP7bOG
We have collected some of the true life stories of those who have been using similar technologies in their homes, and the ways that the gadgets they have used have improved their lives. They explain in simple terms how using technology has benefited them - and how it might benefit you, too.
