US and UK tech companies invited to enter the GREAT Tech Awards

UK Trade & Investment USA and the British Consulate General New York are currently hosting The GREAT Tech Awards, a competition connecting technology companies in the UK and the New York area. The competition will identify six US companies looking to expand overseas, and one UK company demonstrating success in the US. 

US companies

For US technology companies looking to expand overseas, the competition will send winners on a trip to London to explore the tech scene there. The competition is open to US technology companies headquarted in:

  • New York
  • New Jersey
  • Connecticut
  • Pennsylvania

They can apply within categories of:

  • education
  • finance
  • health
  • internet of things
  • lifestyle
  • media

UK Company

The 'Best of British' award has a slightly different prize package. That award will go to one UK company who has already set up business in one or more of the four US states mentioned above, and will be judged on:

  • Their growth from the UK to the US
  • How innovative their product, service or company model is
  • Their potential for business growth in the US.

The prize package for the winning company includes:

  • A business reception for up to 100 people, hosted by the British Consul General to New York
  • A speaking opportunity at one of UKTI’s 2014-15 events in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania or Connecticut
  • Promotion on UKTI and GREAT Campaign digital platforms
  • Legal services provided by Taylor Wessing, valued at up to $3,000
  • Accountancy services provided by Blick Rothenberg, valued at $1,000

Last year's winner of the Best of British award was Blippar.
